An appealing man doesn't just look great.

He is great -- by which we mean, he is good.

Unfortunately, many designers and retailers don't produce or sell items that are both ethically and aesthetically mindful. That's where The Ethical Man comes in. We find or conceive excellent men’s fashion and grooming items, vetted from design to production to your night out on the town, without the wrongness of the usual items you see for sale. We handpick every featured item, and if we wouldn’t wear or use it -- whether for aesthetic, quality, or ethical reasons -- you won't find it here.

To that end, we promise that any items you purchase here are:

• VEGAN. No animals are used to test or produce the items we sell.
• MANLY. After all, real men don't hurt animals.
• ECO-FRIENDLY. Avoiding animal products is the B-E-S-T way to help the planet.

In 2006, Dan graduated from UPenn with Honors in Philosophy (and hundreds of hours of activism under his non-leather belt). As he had always intended, Dan soon moved to New York City. He did not intend, however, that New York would move him as much as it has -- catalyzing a deep passion and respect for personal style and presentation. After going vegan six years earlier, and after working for nearly four years in marketing and media sales for Spin Magazine and Yahoo!, Dan founded The Ethical Man to bring style, value, and peace of mind to men around the world. He also drums for vegan band HERE (read about pastpresentfuture, their recently released first album), edits and publishes Cllctv ("collective"), and has managed an underground art space, The Yolk.

 

JASMINE WILSON

Jasmine graduated from New York University and is among the youngest and most successful jewelry buyers in Japan, as described in Women's Wear Daily Japan. In addition to WWD-Japan, her work has appeared in Roomservice, Sankei Newspaper, and in a number of jewelry advertising campaigns.

Born in San Francisco and raised in Japan and later Princeton, NJ, Jasmine now lives in Manhattan. Jasmine's international perspective can be seen in her artwork, where she favors a minimalist aesthetic and nostalgia for all things old fashioned, especially ruins.

JENNIFER SIMMONS

Jennifer has had a long relationship with the camera and with fashion. Having known Dan since... forever (!), she is excited to assist The Ethical Man in pursuit of cruelty-free style for men.

Jennifer is also interested in event, travel, and architectural photography, which she honed while living in New York City for eight years. Currently pursuing a Master's in Visual Arts Administration at Boston University, Jennifer has a Bachelor's in Art History and Middle Eastern & Islamic Studies from New York University, as well as a Certificate in Interior Design from Parsons School of Design. So, if you need someone to speak Turkish while redesigning your apartment and photographing it for Architectural Digest, she's your gal!
