Oli Dillon Squire doesn't need to be asked. He just does. That's why, at the tender age of 21 years, he's already founded two successful animal advocacy outlets: Action For Our Planet (AFOP) and FurCruelty.com, both hard-edged conduits for animal protection efforts. Each site boasts a surprisingly deep experience featuring volumes of information and content, useful for the uninitiated and the veteran animal activist alike. Oli explains, "I have always had a tremendous passion for helping animals in need. I
founded my websites to
help inform others on animal cruelty issues. I believe in using education
as a basis for asking individuals to take action for animals."
Visit either website, and it's immediately clear: AFOP and FC really aren't just about informing; they're also about activating. When I asked for an example of a big campaign win they've had, Oli said, "When AFOP campaigned against foie gras, we managed to get one store and two restaurants to stop selling it. That's one of our biggest on-the-ground achievements so far." Of course, we at The Ethical Man want to see vegan men (and women, of course) who aren't just advocates and activists, but who present themselves well enough to amplify their influence. Living in style-conscious London, Oli certainly appreciates the importance of principled presentation. "Choosing ethical alternatives is extremely important in ensuring animals do not suffer for the sake of clothing. I always ensure that when buying a fashion item it is 100% ethical, which includes manufacture by an ethical designer and a composition of only non-animal derived materials." Well said, Oli. |
